Management Directive 
  

To:  All North American Product Development Employees, Agency Personnel and Residents of Product Development Facilities

 

 Ford Motor Company invests significantly in scientific research, applications research, manufacturing processes, advanced technology, and product design.  The resulting intellectual property, proprietary information and design information are critical to the Company's future success and must be protected zealously to prevent disclosure of this information to our competitors.  It has been the long standing policy that non-authorized cameras are not permitted on Company property.  Consistent with Corporate Directive C-114, Image Capturing Devices on Company Premises, the following management directive applies to the greater North American Product Creation campus including the Dearborn Test Track, Powertrain Operations Engine Engineering building and all other PD operations:

 

Personal Image Capturing Devices

  • Only Company owned cameras are allowed within the greater NA Product Creation campus. Non-authorized cameras are prohibited from Company property.  This includes the Dearborn Test Track, Powertrain Operations Engine Engineering Building and other PD operations.
  • Requests for non-Company owned image capturing devices to be brought on-site requires the approval at the LL2 level (or VP level as designated by the local activity), utilizing the NA Product Creation Non-Company Photography Equipment Usage Authorization Form.
  • In order to provide the proper levels of security protection for the Company's proprietary information, any electronic device with an integral or add-on-image capture capability will be treated the same as a camera.
  • This management directive applies to any type of camera or image capturing device including cell phones, PDA's and any other electronic devices with image capturing capability.
  • Employees with personal cell phones, PDA's and other electronic devices equipped with image capturing technology should not bring these items onto Company property.
  • This directive applies to all Company hourly, salaried and supplemental employees, independent and agency contractors, guests and visitors on Company property.  Employees are expected to inform their external contacts of these guidelines prior to their coming on Ford property. 
  • All non-Ford personnel possessing authorized image capturing devices on campus must be accompanied by a Ford Motor Company employee at all times. 

 Company Owned Cameras

  • By January 1, 2005, each organization is to have identified and inventoried Company owned "mobile", i.e., hand held cameras, in their facilities.  Directors are to assure a complete inventory of Company cameras is conducted and the appropriate documentation and identification procedures outlined below are followed. 
  • Company cameras which can be mobile are to be "tagged" with a metal button attached to it indicating it is an "approved" camera.  It also is to be equipped with a quick release lanyard – style badge that the user will be required to wear while the camera is in use.  The badge should identify the make, model, serial number and unique badge number.  Badges, metal buttons and lanyards will be installed by a member of R&E Security following submission of the NA Product Creation Camera Inventory & Security Registration form, Attachment B.  Lanyards and badges for equipment retired from service should be returned to R&E Security.  This excludes image capturing devices embedded in fixed engineering equipment or prototypes. 
  • Ford employees utilizing a properly "approved" camera during the normal course of their work will not be required to have additional documentation authorizing the usage of the camera. 
  •  All portable cameras, not properly identified as described above, are subject to confiscation by R&E Security.  Employees possessing unauthorized image capturing devices may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge. 
  •  Corporate Design, Research & Advanced Engineering, Vehicle Evaluation & Verification and other organizations may develop location-specific guidelines befitting the nature of the business in those organizations.  At a minimum, locally developed procedures must at least comply with the NA Product Creation Image Capturing Device Management Directive. 
  •  Product Creation facilities outside of the Dearborn area should make arrangements with R&E Security for obtaining lanyards and badges.  Contact Security representatives at (313) 322-9536 for assistance.
  •  Employees who believe image capturing devices are being utilized in a manner not in compliance with this directive should inform their supervisor/manager, R&E Security, ext. 31133, or the Ford Anonymous Tip Line at 1-800 847-7911, immediately.
